Bandari FC and AFC Leopards will both be looking to climb up the Kenya Premier League table when they meet for a round 11 clash at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa on Saturday, 2 February 2019, kick-off at 14h00 CAT.
Bandari come into the match placed second on the log, six points adrift of leaders Mathare United. That gap was five points before midweek, when Bandari suffered a stinging 4-0 away loss to Kakamega Homeboyz (their first defeat of the league season) at the same time that Mathare drew 0-0 at Kariobangi Sharks.
Homeboyz secured the victory as interim coach and star player Allan Wangta scored two goals, with the club brushing off match-fixing allegations to get the better of Bandari.
Al Bandar coach Bernard Mwalala will want to see his charges bounce back from the defeat and put up a strong showing on the weekend. They have enjoyed a good campaign thus far and will want to move from their midweek debacle as quickly as possible.
Leopards were also in action in midweek, and they too suffered a defeat, going down 1-0 away to Zoo Kericho. The result left the club in 12th place on the log after a run of form which has seen claim just one win from their last four Premier League outings.
Ingwe, led by coach Marko Vasiljevic, are hoping for a return to title-winning ways, but have a lot of work ahead of them to climb up the table and challenges the KPL’s pace-setters.
In head-to-head stats, Bandari and Leopards have met in 16 matches across all competitions since 2009. Both Al Bandar and Ingwe have claimed five wins each, while six games have been drawn.
The teams’ most recent meeting was a KPL clash in July 2018 which ended in a goalless stalemate at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Bandari have put together a three-game unbeaten sequence against Leopards.
