Bayern Munich face a tough task in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final meeting with Porto on Tuesday night as the German champions come into the game trailing 3-1.

Bayern were trading at odds on to win the first leg but they conceded two soft goals in the opening ten minutes. Although Bayern pulled a goal back before the break, it was Porto who scored the only goal of the second half to put themselves in with a great chance of making the semi finals.

Bayern were missing some key players through injury in the first leg including Robben and Ribery so it will be worth keeping an eye on the team news on match-day. What we do know is that Bayern have a formidable home record and they have won all four of their Champions League matches in Munich this season, each one with a clean sheet. A repeat of any of the results in three of those wins, 2-0 over Roma, 3-0 against CSKA and a 7-0 demolition of Shakhtar would be enough to see Bayern through here. They are also averaging a shade more than three goals per home game in the Bundesliga so the stats suggest they have the firepower to turn this tie around.

Porto had to qualify for the Champions League group stage and they have yet to taste defeat in this competition so far this season. They have scored in all five of their Champions League away fixtures, starting with a 1-0 win at Lille in the qualifiers. In the group stage they drew 2-2 at Shakhtar and won 2-0 at Athletic Club and 3-0 at BATE whilst in the Round of 16 they drew 1-1 away at Basel before thrashing the Swiss side 4-0 in the return. This is as threatening as Porto have looked since they lifted the Champions League trophy back in 2004 but they also have Europa League pedigree having won that competition in 2011.

First leg summary

Porto Scorers: Quaresma (3 penalty, 10), Martinez (65)

Bayern Scorer: Alacantara (28)

Summary:

Bayern will be a short price to win on the night but in their quest for goals they also have to keep the back door shut as if Porto score an away goal, the size of the task will increase considerably. Let’s have a venture into the correct score market and put up Bayern to win the second leg 3-0 or 3-1
