Leicester earned their place in the last eight thanks to victories over Fleetwood Town (after a replay), Peterborough United and Sheffield United, while Chelsea has beaten Norwich City (on penalties after a replay), Newcastle United and Hull City in the knockout competition.
The Foxes were last in action last weekend when they handed West Bromwich Albion a 4-1 thrashing at the Hawthorns, with goals from Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Kelechi Iheanacho and Vicent Iborra. It was a fourth game unbeaten for Claude Puel’s team, who have recovered strongly from last month’s 5-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
The Blues were in action in midweek where they suffered a 3-0 loss away to Spanish giants Barcelona, ending their participation in the UEFA Champions League. Antonio Conte’s side has lost three of their last four matches across all competitions and the Italian manager needs a victory in this match to keep on solid ground at the club.
In head-to-head stats, Leicester and Chelsea have met in 83 matches across all competitions. The Blues have claimed 40 wins compared to 18 for the Foxes, while 25 games have been drawn.
The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge in January 2018 which ended in a goalless draw. Chelsea is unbeaten in their last six matches against Leicester and has lost only once in the last 15 meetings of these teams.
