The 2019/20 La Liga season will continue with Matchday 2, featuring 10 matches across Spain on the weekend of 23-25 August 2019.
The round opens with an Andalusia derby between Granada and Sevilla at Estadio Nuevos Los Carmenes on Friday night, hopefully setting the tone for a feisty weekend of football.
Saturday’s key fixtures see Real Madrid chasing three points when they welcome Real Valladolid to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the evening, while a night game at Abanca Balaidos sees top-four hopefuls Valencia looking to overcome hosts Celta de Vigo.
Madrid are in good form following a 3-1 win at Celta de Vigo last weekend, while Valencia will need to pick up their game after they could only draw 1-1 at home to real Sociedad.
Sunday opens with Deportivo Alaves hosting Espanyol and newly-promoted Mallorca tackling Real Sociedad, before two heavyweights round out the weekend.
First up, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid face a tricky trip away to fellow capital city side Leganes at Estadio Municipal de Butarque, before champions Barcelona have their first home match of the season, welcoming Real Betis to the Camp Nou.
