Man United suffered yet another injury blow this week when Anthony Martial was pulled from the Europa League squad yesterday. The forward injured his hamstring during warm ups at Old Trafford yesterday and youngster Marcus Rashford was called upon to play.
This was to be Rashfords debut match for the devils and it will certainly be a day to remember. The 18-year old helped his team beat the Danish champs by scoring twice in the 5 – 1 victory.
Van Gaal was not fazed by the situation and said he didn’t worry about sending on Rashford.
“I wasn’t worried about him. I’m always confident for that,” “He was the best option.”
Update on Martial
Van Gaal said in a press conference there is no cause for concerns, and he does not think Martial has a serious injury. He claimed the forward has played many games and asked to step down as his hamstring was tight. This is a sign of a good footballer who knows playing could cause an even worse injury.
