Former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo will return to Molineux Stadium for the first time as Tottenham Hotspur boss on Sunday, on matchday two of the 2021/22 English Premier League season.
Wolves got their campaign off to a losing start under new manager Bruno Lage. Jamie Vardy’s first-half goal at King Power Stadium led Leicester City to a 1-0 win last weekend, with Wolves having now lost their last four Premier League matches.
Despite missing Harry Kane who continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City, Spurs gave Santo a perfect start as Son Heung-min fired the north London club to a 1-0 win over the defending champions on home soil.
“Harry is one of the best players in the world, we are very lucky to have him, so he has to get ready and help the team,” said Nuno in the aftermath.
“I’m sure with the commitment and the talent we have, we will have a good team.”
He added: “I think we were lucky because they [Man City] had clear chances, but the boys held on.
“We knew it would be tough and after 15 minutes we adjusted better. The atmosphere and especially the hard work of the boys makes any manager proud.”
The two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Molineux Stadium last season before a 2-0 win for Spurs in the reverse fixture.
