Tottenham will look to cement fourth place in the Premier League when they entertain Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, April 16.
Spurs have benefited from Arsenal, West Ham, Manchester United and Wolves all losing their matches last weekend to remain in the final Champions League spot.
Antonio Conte’s side thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 at Villa Park to go three points clear of the fifth-placed Gunners, who still have a game in hand.
It was their fourth win on the spin and Conte admitted seeing their rivals slip up has given his players the desire to go on and clinch a top-four finish.
“I said this before that Arsenal, [Manchester] United and then Wolverhampton and West Ham are with us in the same race for a place in the Champions League,” the Italian said after the clash against the Villans.
“To know that your opponent lost their games and for sure they have to give you the right desire, the right will to get three points because on one hand you know our rivals lost the game, if we lose but we are always in fourth place.
“A little medium team can think this. A top team, a strong team thinks that it is the right moment to improve the distance over your rivals and exploit this situation.”
The Seagulls halted a seven-match winless run with a surprise 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium over the weekend.
Albion moved up to 11th in the table to go level with Crystal Palace just above them on 37 points, with head coach Graham Potter hailing their triumph in the capital as one of their “very best”.
“It’s a massive result for us and because it’s the most recent one, I’ll say it’s up there with the very best,” Potter said.
“It’s a fantastic feeling, three points in the Premier League, and the game showed how difficult they are to get – especially away from home and especially against the teams challenging for the top places.
“We want to finishing at strongly as we can. That’s 37 points; we’ve got more games to go and it gives us a little platform to push the team on.”
