Tottenham Hotspur will look to leapfrog London rivals Chelsea on the Premier League log when the teams meet at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 24 November 2018, kick-off at 19h30 CAT.
Spurs come into the game having beaten another London side, Crystal Palace, 1-0 away from home on November 10 in their last match before the international break. It was the second narrow win in a row for the Lilywhites, though manager Mauricio Pochettino would have been pleased with the control his side exhibited compared to the frenetic 3-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers the week prior.
Tottenham will also want to see Harry Kane continue his Wembley heroics, having scored the decisive goal for England in a 2-1 win over Croatia at the national stadium this past weekend – the result put the Three Lions in the finals of the UEFA Nations League (UNL).
Chelsea, meanwhile, maintained their unbeaten start to the season but were somewhat short of their best in drawing 0-0 at Everton on November 11.
Manager Maurizio Sarri will want more energy and pace from his team in this London derby, and he will hope that Eden Hazard brushes off a disappointing defeat for Belgium in the UNL and brings his ‘A game’ to Wembley.
The Italian has also hinted that he will keep faith with Alvaro Morata upfront, despite the Spanish striker receiving criticism in the wake of the stalemate at Goodison Park.
While Spurs have suffered three defeats in the Premier League, they are in fact just one point behind third-placed Chelsea and could leapfrog the Blues with a home win on Saturday evening.
